I started learning my trade as an apprentice in Germany from 1964 until 1967. After graduating, I worked in a construction and renovation company. In my spare time I went to school, and in 1975 I passed the exams and graduated as a Master in my trade. I learned how to plan and design houses including estimation of material and labour costs. I also learned about laws and how to do bookkeeping.
In 1979, I left the construction company and started my own home renovation business, still in Germany. In 1983 I came to Canada, and after three months, I started my own bathroom renovation company in Kitchener. Because of my experience in Germany and since 1983 in Canada, I have learned how to solve problems and make the right decisions, which is very important for me to meet the challenge of renovating bathrooms in Canadian houses.
